Teach Me To Live (Teach Me, #1) written by Alannah Carbonneau (426 pgs) – finished reading 4/16/16 – 5 stars - New Adult

Such a beautiful love story! I would give this book 10 stars if I could...

“Have you ever encountered someone whose entity calls to you beyond any stretch of your imagination, beyond any explanation? Have you ever looked into someone’s eyes, and in them, saw a piece of yourself reflecting back? Have you ever touched another human being, and felt your soul stir from its hibernation? And you realize in that moment, that all the living you’ve been doing, was nothing more than walking the path you needed to take to cross paths with her? Have you ever met someone and known, that no matter what, you can’t fathom existing without her?? Not even for her own wellbeing? If there is one thing in this world I need before I take my final salutation, it’s her.” ~ Austin (Chap. 5)

This was one beautiful love story! Full of emotion and heartache, which only added to the dynamic of the story. Madison was always doing what everyone else wanted. She didn’t have friends, and her parents were always telling her what to do. Making her own decisions without consulting her. Trying to do what was really in their best interest instead of hers. Madison was a sad soul. And, in her deep brown eyes is where it all showed. The sorrow. The vacant stare. There was just no spark. No life. And, when she meets Austin, he can see it all. She’s an open book to him. And, when he professes to her “if you ever feel like living a little, give me a call” she can’t help but be intrigued. With his phone number scrawled on her arm, she decides to copy it into her diary for safe-keeping. A few days later, Madison takes Austin up on his offer, and calls him. And, what starts out as just a brief encounter, develops into something so much more. But, there is a huge secret that Austin is keeping from Madison. And, it comes with pain and heartbreak.

I loved Madison and Austin’s story! Austin was such a brave guy. He was so amazing in his own-right. Wise beyond his years. Stunning blue eyes and longish black hair graced his six-foot two immaculately tattooed body. He was just an eyeful to look at. And, damn, he rode a motorcycle too. He was a God!! Madison is brave too as she lets Austin show her what living is like. How to have fun and just enjoy life. How to live for yourself. He’s patient and caring with her as she’s torn about telling her parents she’s decided to make her own decisions concerning where life takes her whether they’re mistakes or not. Boy, this was one emotional roller coaster! I was totally floored when I found out what Austin’s secret was! I can’t go into it much more than that without giving away spoilers, but be prepared for one incredible story that will definitely have you thinking about it long after you’ve read the final page. Another great book that I’ve read this year! Ms. Carbonneau really impressed me with her writing and her ability to suck the reader fully into an emotionally heartfelt story. One not to be missed!
