Ball Peen Hammer written by Lauren Rowe (368 pgs) – finished reading 8/7/16 – 5 stars - Contemporary Romance (New Adult)

You will laugh your ass off with one! It was so funny! Just the title alone had me already snickering before I even got started. And, my God, Keane Morgan is some awesome guy! The things he says are just so hilarious. He’s definitely got a mind of his own! I couldn’t stop laughing. It also helps that the guy does  not have your normal everyday career – he’s a stripper. And, he does it with finesse and ease with that body and his whole heart and soul. When he first meets Maddy for a unexpected road trip, damn is she ever pissed at him. But, that goes away as she gets to know him and is totally intrigued. These two together are one force to be reckoned with. They feed off each other, and it’s funny as hell. The pet names. The stories they tell. The videos they make. All just suck the reader into the story. It’s so entertaining, and I absolutely enjoyed it until the very end. Ms. Rowe definitely wrote one amazing book! Of course, the language is a bit raunchy and the sex is told in detail, but it’s still one amusing book! So, if you’re looking for a good time read, take a chance on this one. There also is a story within all the laughter that is a little emotional between both Keane and Maddy that has both characters questioning their beliefs. Unfortunately, that takes a toll on their relationship. So, they do have some things to figure out. But, this was just a light-hearted book that had me smiling the entire time. Loved it!!

The Nurse’s Newborn Gift written by Wendy S. Marcus (256 pgs) – finished reading 8/4/16 – 5 stars - Contemporary Romance (Medical)

I’ve read practically every book that Wendy S. Marcus has written, and this one is stunning. There’s so much emotion that is portrayed within the pages that I felt like I was laughing and crying along with the characters. Comical at times, but still packed with intensity as truths are revealed during some of the most awkward and honest moments. Krissy is a hard-working nurse, but a lot of people still imagine her as the wild party-girl of her teenage years. In reality, though, Krissy has matured into a respectable beautiful woman. And, it’s with that respect that she promises her best friend Jarrod something that is sure to shock, but yet  bring together friends and family members. Spencer was best friends with Jarrod, and he blames Krissy for him having joined the Army. But, what he doesn’t know is what Krissy promised Jarrod. Everything will come to light, however, when letters are distributed to each important person in Jarrod’s life. As Krissy and Spencer spend more time together, they find themselves rekindling that friendship that they shared in the past. Will it develop into something more as Spencer sees just how capable and caring Krissy is with the huge undertaking that now is bestowed on her?

This is so not your typical military romance. This one will floor you and leave you speechless. The storyline is one that I’ve never read before, and it’s written with compassion and heart. There’s a definite chemistry between Krissy and Spencer as they finally connect on a more romantic level. And, the passion between them is sensual and touching. I couldn’t help but enjoy the witty banter between the two also. The love/hate relationship that they shared was endearing. It was a beautiful story with a great cast of characters as feelings were shared during a most tenderhearted step towards finding comfort and fulfillment. This is surely one that you’re not going to want to miss...

“You are what my life’s been missing. You’re fun and passionate, a wonderful mother, and thank God, kind and forgiving. You’re laid back, you go with the flow and I need that in my life.” ~ Spencer (Chap. 16)

“You’re confident and sexy, dependable and smart, and you’re going to make a wonderful father for J.J.” ~ Krissy (Chap. 16)

One written by Jewel E. Ann (381 pgs) – finished reading 8/1/16 – 5 stars - Cntemporary Romance (Sports)

I just love this author! She writes some awesome books that keep you so invested in the story. And, those characters just jump out at you with all their wit and charm. This book does not disappoint whatsoever! I loved the whole story of Lake Jones and her disability as she’s a spokesperson for a prosthetic company. It was real and honest. Such a great idea to bring into a contempory romance book. And, of course, who doesn’t love a romantic sports story. Cage Monaghan is just the epitomy of a football God! The two met three years ago when Lake was searching for a friend, and they just clicked. So, when they encounter each other again, it’s kismet. It’s insta-love. But, there’s ups and downs. Two careers that travel big-time. Will they be able to survive it?

There’s a magnificent cast of supporting characters as well. Funny as hell! Loyal. Protective. And, I loved them all! Friends. Family. They’re all wonderful! Ms. Ann writes with no flaws. Her characters are breathtaking. And, her story was so romantic! There’s not much angst present in this novel as the romance is what carries it. Two main characters that just connect on such an intimate level had me so captivated. It was downright beautiful! Can’t say enough positive things about this one other than it was PERFECT!! Looking forward to reading another Jewel E. Ann book!! Hopefully Flint will get his own story...

“To anyone with a disability, I may not have done the best job portraying the life of an amputee, but this story was about survivors. Thank you for being an inspiration. All it takes is one person to see your strength, and just like that...you’ve changed the world. One is enough.” ~ Jewel E. Ann

Your Mess Is Mine written by Stephanie Alba (293 pgs) – finished reading 8/3/16 – 5 stars - Contemporary Romance

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS PRESENT WITHIN REVIEW***

Read this book! You will love the characters. Their story. And, the author tells an amazing significant tale! It’s funny. And, it’s heartbreaking. I laughed, and I cried. I loved it! Once I was hooked, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Margo, she’s broken, even though she appears so confident in the first half of the book. As the reader, I didn’t think that she had any issues. But, as I dug deeper into the belly of this novel, things were not as I originally suspected. And, it was with sadness that the truth would be revealed. Hudson, oh what can I say about dear, dear Hudson. He’s hot with his dirty potty mouth. He’s smart as he’s such a hard-working male. But, he’s also such a caring and compassionate man. Margo and Hudson’s story is magical. And, even though Margo knows that without a doubt Hudson is the best thing that ever happened to her, she throws a wrench into their relationship that has Hudson hell-bent on doing everything that he can to repair it. Loved this book to death! It’s real and raw. Ms. Alba does an amazing job with her depiction of the disease of depression...

“I realized that, whether human, animal, family, or friends, we all need each other in our best and hardest moments. We have the power to heal each other or destroy each other, and what we do with that power determines the lives we lead. Besides that influence, though, we each possess weaknesses. We have flaws that aren’t as pretty. Whether it’s an emotional disorder, or a character flaw, or even a disability, they are what make us human. They are what make us real and alive.” ~ Margo (Epilogue)

Untimely You written by K. Webster (214 pgs) – finished reading 7/29/16 – 3.5 stars - Contemporary Romance

A tough one to read if you’re not very fond of cheating. This one, though, had special circumstances. The thing that carries this book, however, is the character of Neesy. OMG! Funny as hell! She’s clumsy and speaks her mind. But, she’s also caring and driven. Always thinking of others before herself. And, when her boss, Adrian, says that he has a special job for her, how can she say “no”. It’s how she interprets it that has the reading laughing out-loud. She does take it in stride, though, when she realizes what her real job will be and tackles it in that Neesy way with tenderness, care, and heart. Adrian, however, he was hard to like. He was brash, controlling, and in a way deceptive. But Neesy accepts him nevertheless. Most of his actions, though, came from guilt. Guilt for his involvement in an accident from his past and now guilt for his growing feelings towards Neesy. But, when the truth is revealed concerning a character’s past indiscretions, everything changes.

This was a quick read that had me laughing one moment, crying the next, and then throwing my hands up in frustration. I’m telling you Neesy was one fabulous character! She really carried the book with her humor and confidence. I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up this book because the blurb was pretty vague. But, it’s best to go in reading it blind. You will be totally surprised!

No Pants Required written by Kim Karr (314 pgs) – finished reading 7/27/16 – 4 stars - Contemporary Romance

What a fun and sexy read! Yes, there’s a lot of sex in this book, but it’s sweet and funny! Just the type of book I needed to read after the two intense books that I just finished. I enjoyed Camden and Makayla’s love story immensely! They have great chemistry! They just fit. The author writes with humor and honesty. Her characters are one of a kind. They sparkle all on their own. Yes, both main characters had pasts that weren’t pretty, but it was not due to their mistakes. They just trusted the wrong people. There’s a great supporting cast also, which I hope the author has plans to tell their stories eventually. This was your typical summer beach read that kept me entertained throughout the entire book. Glad I picked it up...
